Turning Numbers Into Action: Making the State of the Team Conversation More Effective
Date & Time
Tuesday, June 7, 2022, 10:00 AM - 10:50 AM
Stephen Shields
Description

A manager passes out their team’s engagement results and asks, “So what do you all think?” And then? Crickets. Too often, this is the reality. How can this be avoided?

Gallup calls these state of the team conversations, while others call them action planning or impact planning conversations. But no matter what they’re called, there are specific tactics that managers can execute to make these conversations fruitful. When teams have a productive conversation exploring the sources of engagement and disengagement beneath their survey results, devise a plan to address those, and then, most importantly, actually execute those plans, those teams are taking ownership of their own engagement. Subsequently, their engagement will increase! In this session, participants will learn best practices on how to facilitate such an effective conversation.

Objectives:

  • Explore ways teams can discuss what their engagement reality is beneath the survey results without getting bogged down in the paralysis of analysis.
  • Understand how to choose a practical business or operational issue on which to focus in a team’s action plan.
  • Discover ways to enable a team to quickly identify one Q12 item most relevant to that chosen issue.
  • Learn how to empower a team to devise an action that’s both verifiable and practical.

Insights From the World’s Most Engaged Workplaces: What the Best Are Doing to Drive Engagement
Date & Time
Tuesday, June 7, 2022, 1:30 PM - 2:20 PM
Mona Balasubramanian
Description

Despite workplace culture moving up the priority list for CEOs globally, the experience at work for most employees is unsettling and energy-sapping. A mere two in every 10 employees in the global workforce today are engaged at work. This can be very costly to organizations — the lost productivity of employees who aren’t engaged is 18% of their annual salary. It is also the key factor in what is popularly referred to as the Great Resignation. The good news: There are organizations out there that buck the trend — they have improved engagement levels to amongst the top quartile of Gallup’s database and sustained this even during the pandemic. Join this session to discover how these organizations have managed this feat and transformed their cultures.

Objectives:

  • Learn best practices for growth in employee engagement implemented by Gallup clients and some of the world’s most engaged organizations.
  • Understand the distinct roles of executives, HR and people leaders to drive the people agenda and build sustainable growth in engagement.

While critical to the retention of top talent and growth of your organization, feedback gets a bad rap. If you’re struggling to give or receive feedback, good news: You can learn how to improve. In this workshop, join two successful professionals who know a thing or two about offering and receiving feedback — a real-life manager and team member who have mastered feedback not just as learning practitioners but as actual workplace colleagues. Laugh with them, learn from them and listen in as they practice coupling CliftonStrengths and feedback in real time.

Objectives:

  • Learn a framework for assessing the ideal emotional environment for feedback.
  • Explore a model for assessing the key situation at the center of your feedback.
  • Listen to live feedback demonstrations.

Purpose, Values and Brand: The Connection That Brings Them to Life
Date & Time
Wednesday, June 8, 2022, 10:00 AM - 11:20 AM
Jeremie Brecheisen
Description

Most companies have a purpose statement, but few have the level of purpose required to attract star talent. Most companies have values on their walls, but few live those values in a way that delivers on their brand promises to customers. The more your purpose, values and brand connect to your unique organizational identity — essentially your organizational strengths — the more they will jump off the website and into the hearts and minds of your people.

This workshop is designed to help organizations — and the people in them — be the best versions of themselves possible, or at least start that journey. We will help you to wrap your purpose, values and brand around your company’s strengths and live that purpose out every day as a manager, coach or individual contributor.

Objectives:

  • Explore your company’s strengths.
  • Connect your company’s strengths to your purpose, values and brand.
  • Create differentiated versions of your purpose, values and brand that no one else could use because they are so uniquely yours.
